Sometimes after the court decrees a custody situation in either a divorce or a paternity suit, circumstances change. Therefore, what was once an equitable and workable situation has become implausible. Upon such changed circumstances, a modification is necessary to correct the inequities that have arisen.

Sometimes those inequities involve the amount of child support, whether it is that the child is receiving too low of an amount or the non-custodial parent is paying too much due to a change in his/her income or circumstances; sometimes the inequities involve the custody or visitation schedule, which due to the substantial changes of the circumstances of the parties or child/children, either need to be increased, decreased, or changed altogether. Such modifications must be ratified by the court that presided over the original judgment. Again, you will need competent, compassionate representation for such modifications.
